On September 10th, the Minnesota Chapter of the Fulbright Association was proud to partner with Global Minnesota for “Election Watch 2024: Journalistic Experiences from the Global Stage.” With elections occurring in over 50 countries, encompassing more than half the world’s population, 2024 is being called the year of elections. The panel explored how global political contests are being covered in today’s fractured international media landscape. The event, held at the University of St. Thomas, featured a dynamic panel discussion on election media coverage with five of the twelve international journalists participating in the 2024 World Press Institute (WPI) program. The panel was moderated by Alexis Rogers, the vibrant Anchor and Community Relations Manager at KARE 11 News in the Twin Cities, and included journalists from Brazil, Finland, Bulgaria, India, and the UK. This year, the WPI is also sponsoring journalists from South Africa, Kosovo, Italy, and Peru. These journalists will return to their home countries after covering the American elections.
